Most of us take very little notice of the office copier when everything is working great. When something goes amiss, however, we realize how much we depend on our copier to keep everyday processes on track.
When You Can Fix It Yourself
Here's a look at three common copier issues and what you can do to get back to business ASAP.
#1 Low-quality copies — Faded text, streaks, smudges, lines—none of these issues are acceptable, even for in-house documents. If switching out the toner cartridge for a new one and cleaning the scanning glass doesn't correct the problem, a call to your service provider is in order.
#2 Paper jams — Most of the time, routine paper jams can be taken care of by the user. You don't want to be that guy who leaves a paper jam for the next person, so refer to the multifunction copier interface for instructions to solve the issue. For paper jams that go beyond your expertise, consult with your technician. If jams are too frequent, worn parts may be the culprit. It's also important to store your paper in a low-moisture environment to prevent jams called by curled edges.
#3 Crumpled or torn paper — If your copier is putting out damaged documents, there's a reason. It may be time to replace the rollers or upgrade to a newer device.
When You've Had Enough
